iPhone 3G exp...
---

Once again, this experience is somewhat close, yet, not quite for myself...

Due to certain unexpected reason... a replacement cell is needed, well, almost needed... So, the idea of an iPhone just pop up... was plan to wait bit longer to dive in the iPhone wave.. oh well...

Ok, since its selling date back on 7/11, I did drove by the Apple store in Los Gatos, near my house, to check the 'phenomena'... that Friday, was really amazing... people lined up throughout the entire section of Los Gatos town, that's a first I even know there are people in town... not to mention the desire for the fashionable techie toy... I guess people truly are rich in Los Gatos... or the marketing people score again w/ 2.0 all over the world...

Anyway, there are internet blog/vlog about the back order issue with hot demanded iPhone, iJustin was funny when she document about it... so, is there any iPhone on store anywhere?? that, would be the question...

Interesting enough, earlier this week, there's the iPhone inventory link from Apple.com that shows the inventory level of each of its Apple store, I was just amazed by its effectiveness and business model, then... I'm the one actually poking and get one... yeah, things do happen for a reason... I ... suppose...

K, checked the inventory link last night and found out that, there are actually many iPhones in stock, what's the backorder?? hmm... so, I went in this morning, to Apple store Los Gatos of course, ^^

There weren't any crazy lines back as 7/11, guess a week or two do fulfill most of the demands... so, the Apple style kicks in, color t-shirt employee greet you at the door, asking whether you are there for the phone or not, if so, which model and color, then give you a ticket marked w/ your desire choices, then, you go in and ... well.. stand in the line... waiting for the cute available store employees to help you... in my case... I did have a cute young guy, Ben, to assist me..

Once you are greeted, they take your ticket, ask series of Qs... current/upgrade/new user, porting number, etc... and... most importantly, any accessories? Which... 9 out 10 people grab the protective film and cover casing... well... yeah... I'm one of them... ^_^

With the new Apple store design, essentially every store employee is a POS, which I did joke w/ my helper, Ben, that they are the walking register, all they need is a spot in the store to deal w/ the transactions, and swipe your card, viola, done.

In my case, however, Ben did encountered issue during activation, for some weird reason, the iTune refuse to take the simcard inside... hmm.. bad serial number I guess, =p It took Ben almost half hour to deal w/ the simcard error, back and forth to the manager and call AT&T to replace another simcard...

Oh, it turn out... the lady whom greet us at the door, is one of the store manager, how nice... I thought she seem different than others... Just imagine any Asian manager that would ever stand by the door to greet customers... yeah.. in your dream...

While Ben's busy w/ the issue, I'm just fulling around poking iPhone demo and check mails on iMac... well, what else to do besides 'demo' in Apple store...

When Ben finally get things done in order, it's about an hour for us in the store, which isn't too bad, would cut the time in half if weren't for the simcard incident...

Overall, I like the service and queuing method they use to handle customers, a strong case study for IEs like myself, do have to applaud Apple team for its effort to making things smoothly for everyone. Not like the stupid Wii thing last year...

So, what I got? a black 16G, of course... what else?

Well, the cell is for my dad... I usually wait for a bit longer... ^^

Oh, how's the iPhone 3G? hmm... just an iPod+cell+touchy screen+fun features... what you expect? ? 3D hologram? @_@

Nice experience, wish all thing can be this easy... =)
